Long Island Boy, 13, Dies After Being Struck While Riding Bicycle

A 13-year-old boy riding his bicycle died after being struck by a car in Levittown.

The incident occurred at around 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, the boy, identified as Andrew Alati, was crossing in front of 2575 Hempstead Turnpike when he was struck by a 1998 Toyota Camry operated by a 19-year-old male traveling westbound. 

The operator of the vehicle remained at the scene and called 911, police said. 

As a result of the collision, the boy suffered multiple injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased, a short time later, by a hospital physician. 

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, police said.
